Batman's team made it through the fifth level. The whole process had been nerve-racking but uneventful. The sixth level was a muddy swamp, and this was where they ran into a problem: the vines overhead, which could be used to swing across, had been installed far too loosely. Batman tugged on one, and it came away in his hand as a brand-new vine.

"You expect me to believe cultists had to go through this kind of ordeal every day just to get back to their bedrooms?" Batman could not make sense of it.

Superman and Wonder Woman had nothing much to say either. They knew it was indeed a little too abrupt, but that was fine. As long as they committed to the act, it would all become real.

"I think we should call in a partner who is better at handling this sort of thing," Martian Hunter suggested. "Let Aquaman handle it."

"You're sure he's good with swamps?" Batman asked skeptically, while Superman deliberately brought up the Court of Owls.

"Do you remember that mysterious organization we saw in the Secret Chamber?" Superman asked. "I suspect this may not have been their residence, but merely a trap they left behind before withdrawing."

Batman nodded and stopped paying attention to Martian Hunter's plan to contact Aquaman. After thinking for a moment, he said, "They must be exceptionally cunning and evil. I spent so many years in Gotham without noticing there was such a magnificent ancient city beneath it."

"Maybe there are gaps in your surveillance," Wonder Woman said. "Though I understand. Who would stare at sewers for no reason?"
