Boom!
Schiller, who had just gotten out of the car, turned to look toward the building. "Did you hear something?"
Batman looked thoughtfully toward the chemical plant but said nothing. Instead, he entered the airport with Schiller.
Gotham's airport was usually bustling, but for some reason, there were hardly any planes tonight. Few were taking off or landing. After asking a staff member, they learned that the control tower had been damaged by a laser, and most planes had diverted to Metropolis.
Theoretically, planes did not necessarily need a control tower to land, especially when air traffic was light. Pilots could land by visual judgment alone, but most captains were unwilling to take that risk. Naturally, very few planes chose to land here.
Schiller and Batman both thought this was a good opportunity. Since the control tower was broken, they might as well keep it broken for a few more days.
They headed toward the tower, intending to tamper with it further so it could not be repaired anytime soon, when waves of commotion suddenly rose from the horizon.
Batman turned around and was the first to spot the red-and-blue figure. He frowned. Superman really was unreliable. Fine, Wonder Woman was unreliable too, and Green Lantern...
The figures flying over the horizon were the Justice League. But shouldn't they have been accompanying Batman on an adventure through the ancient city?
Schiller seemed to have expected this all along. He had never thought that anything in this universe would actually follow the script.
The Justice League did not seem to be flying over to cause trouble. Superman, at the front, appeared to be trying to stop something. From afar, Main Universe Batman saw a cloud of dust rise from the ground, as though some enormous creature was charging toward them.
