"I got heatstroke."

Dick, holding the phone, asked in disbelief, "What? Professor? What happened to you?!"

"I said I got heatstroke. I'm resting at Arkham Asylum now. You'd all better behave yourselves lately. If you end up in the police station again, no one will bail you out."

Dick lowered the phone with a blank expression, then turned to Jason beside him and said, "Professor Schiller said he got heatstroke and is resting at Arkham Asylum. What do you think is going on?"

"What do you mean, what's going on?" Jason said as he flipped through the files. "Does heatstroke need a reason? Isn't this damn weather hot enough?"

"But that's Professor Schiller."

"He said he doesn't have superpowers anymore."

"And you believed him?"

"The point isn't whether we believe him. He used to say he didn't have telepathy either. Did that stop him from doing anything?" Jason gave a soft snort, then said, "Forget that. Come look at these files."

Dick had no choice but to set aside his doubts and walk over. Jason handed him another set of photocopied documents. On the first page, Dick saw the words: "Polochin Community Child Disappearance Case Report."

He weighed the stack in his hand. It was nearly half a palm thick, and Dick could not help clicking his tongue. Gotham had countless child disappearance cases every year, but the community where that boarding high school was located did not have a large population. This many missing children was still outrageous.

Dick flipped through the documents and found that things were somewhat better than he had expected, because many of them contained Aisha's notes. For example, she had marked certain family members worth paying attention to, or noted that the timing of a child's disappearance was unusual.
