In Gordon's office, he looked at the map spread across his desk while several of his old subordinates shook their heads and sighed.
"That guy did it on purpose, no question." One burly male detective with a full beard said, "Of the four cold-storage warehouses around where the body was found, one belongs to Richie, one to Lawrence, one to Spencer, and the last fucking one belongs to Falcone."
"And he just happened to freeze to death." Another sharp-looking female detective with short hair said, "If we announce the cause of death, we'd practically be saying outright that the owners of those nearby warehouses are suspects. But if we don't announce it, we can't stall for long. The reporters are already on their way."
"Don't announce it yet," Gordon said. "When we don't have a shred of proof, better to offend the reporters than them. Besides, if I remember correctly, all of those warehouses use the latest refrigeration and preservation technology. That means it isn't cold inside the warehouses."
