The next morning, Clark was startled when he ran into Bruce in the cafeteria. He looked Bruce up and down and said, "Good Lord, Bruce, I know you and Selene are in the honeymoon phase, but you two..."
At that moment, Diana passed by carrying a tray. She also looked Bruce over, but perhaps because Bruce was the opposite sex, she merely clicked her tongue and walked away.
Clark put an arm around Bruce's shoulders and said, "I get it, brother. Louis and I are like that sometimes too. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but talking all night is a little... Well, you Batmen are probably just good at staying up late."
Bruce let out a long sigh. "It's not because of Selene."
"Then it was you?!" Clark was even more shocked. He couldn't help giving Bruce a thumbs-up, but Bruce shoved his hand down and said irritably, "It's because of Jena!"
Clark froze in place, his expression gradually turning serious. But before he could say anything, Bruce added, "Because of Jena's paper!"
"Oh, I remember now. You said you thought highly of that little girl. I think she's pretty clever too. What happened to her paper?"
"There's nothing wrong with her paper."
"Then what are you worried about?"
"I'm worried because she doesn't have a paper!"
Bruce had no choice but to repeat his conversation with Jena from yesterday to Clark. Clark sighed and said, "You're being too serious, Bruce. Jena is an alien. It's perfectly normal for her not to understand certain things on Earth. You have to give her some time."
"I don't understand what kind of time ten details and a five-hundred-word paper could possibly require. I didn't even tell her what kind of details to find, or insist that she find the right ones.
