The moment Schiller heard that name, he remembered there was still an important figure in their universe who had yet to appear.
The High Evolution was portrayed as extremely powerful in the comics, capable of creating universes and ecosystems from scratch, somewhat like Marvel's version of Doctor Manhattan.
But as everyone knew, Marvel's settings were one thing and their actual feats were another. Magneto had once claimed in the comics that he could create universes, but he still got humiliated when the time came. The High Evolution was much the same.
He had not had many standout performances in the comics. He had lent a hand against Ultron, and then there was the time the invincible Devourer of Worlds fell again.
The High Evolution had created a virtual Earth and evolved it into a complete ecosystem within mere minutes. Then the Devourer of Worlds discovered it. Galactus, who had wanted a tasty little snack, failed to eat it, conclusively proving that the High Evolution was stronger than Galactus.
But the High Evolution was not actually a cosmic abstract entity. He had originally been a human, and a scientist who graduated from Oxford University at that. Since his experimental theories were not accepted by his peers, he found a place to conduct his own research, elevated himself, later formed an order of knights, and even created a planet for them.
In any case, the man had not appeared often, and the extent of his power was unknown. Most of the time, he served as background decoration. If he had not suddenly popped up now, Schiller would have nearly forgotten about him.
"Then why did he hire you to do all this?" Schiller asked.
