"Without side effects?!" Professor X was startled as well.
After spending so long in the universe and dealing with so many long-lived species, the two of them did have ways to extend their lives. The problem was that nearly every method in the universe came with side effects.
If they made a deal with a Demon God, they had to pay a price. If they used potions, they needed regular maintenance. And if they used unusual artifacts, they would either be cursed or find that the effects did not last.
Generally speaking, extending their lives by a few hundred years was not a problem, but beyond that, things became uncertain. Professor X had discussed it with Magneto before: if the Mutants' situation had still not improved by the end of their natural lives, they would pick the safest option and give it a try.
"Golden Apple?" Magneto focused on that. "The Golden Apple from mythology?"
"That's right. In another distant universe, the gods from mythology truly exist, and so do Golden Apples. Schiller acquired some through certain means, and he can get more later. This thing has no side effects whatsoever. Eat one, and you gain an almost limitless lifespan."
Magneto and Professor X exchanged a glance.
"Of course, it isn't quite that miraculous. It can only prevent you from dying of old age; it can't stop you from getting injured. If you're hurt too badly, or simply killed, it won't save you."
