After saying that, Schiller said nothing more. He checked Batman's chest wound. It was a fairly serious penetrating injury; without prompt treatment, he probably had less than two hours to live.

Although Schiller examined him, he could not treat him, so he stood and stepped aside, letting Bruce, who had surgical experience, go over.

Bruce examined the wound as well, then shook his head. "It doesn't look good. The bleeding won't stop. I need to drain the blood from his lungs first, so he doesn't choke on his own blood. Then we'll need medicine and bandages..."

"I'll go look for some," Schiller said. "This gentleman will come with me."

He looked at Greed. Greed said nothing. Bruce's gaze shifted back and forth between them, but in the end, he nodded.

"For safety's sake, I need to take a gun." Schiller picked up Batman's shotgun. "If possible, I'll bring back some supplies, but don't get your hopes up."

With that, he rose and led Greed out. Only after leaving the room did Schiller realize they were probably inside a lighthouse.

He could not help recalling the nickname mentioned in the opening animation for this little village: the Great Snow-Covered Lighthouse. This lighthouse was probably where that nickname came from.

It was easy to see that this lighthouse was enormous. Schiller had never seen one this large. Calling it a lighthouse was almost doing it an injustice; by eye, its circumference was nearly that of the Colosseum.

Outside the room was a hall. There were windows in the hall, letting in a faint glow that made it possible to roughly make out the surroundings.

The decor was somewhat old and shabby, as though it had not been repaired for decades. Yet it was still fairly clean, not ruined or abandoned. The wooden
