He was subtly asking about their personal luck scores. Pale Rider stepped forward and said, "I've always had pretty good luck. What's wrong?"

"I think you could go take a look by the river. Maybe you'll get either the worst result or the best result, and both would be good."

What Schiller said was rather ambiguous, but fortunately there were no outsiders here. As long as the other person understood, that was enough.

He actually wanted Pale Rider to gamble on a Great Success. A Critical Failure would work too. That way, they might be able to fish something up, or at least find out what was going on with this river.

"I think we should keep moving first," Main Universe Batman said. "This river must have an end. Perhaps it would be better to test things there."

Schiller considered it and agreed with his suggestion. The group continued onward. Time was difficult to sense here, but Schiller knew Batman was probably counting the seconds in his head.

After they had walked for an unknown length of time and everyone was beginning to tire, Schiller suddenly saw a beam of light ahead.

"Is that an exit?" Owlman narrowed his eyes.

Schiller suddenly raised a hand to stop him, because he saw vague shadows shifting within the light, somewhat like reeds by a lake.

As they moved a little closer, everyone saw that there was a lake ahead. Reeds grew around its shore, and above the right side of the lake's surface was a glowing hole that seemed to lead up to the ground.

It did not quite resemble a normal exit, but it was the only clue they had found so far. Then Schiller suddenly remembered the reeds on the corpse in the kitchen.
