Schiller walked over and found a spiraling mine shaft descending into the depths, with a deep well in the middle leading farther into the mine. There were obvious traces of people having passed through here. It looked like Natasha and Arkham Batman.
"Those two lunatics didn't just jump straight down, did they?" Schiller examined the footprints at the edge of the deep well and said, "Even I wouldn't be that crazy in the High Tower."
"What's that?" Strange pointed at something below. Schiller looked down and saw a lamp there, apparently inside a room. The light was extremely faint, almost invisible unless one looked carefully. If someone had jumped straight down, they probably would not have stopped there.
Naturally, neither of them chose to descend directly to the bottom of the shaft. Even though they knew something was wrong down there, they could only make their way over slowly. So they decided to check out that door first.
The two followed the spiral passage downward until they reached the door. Schiller gave it a gentle push and found that it was unlocked. He carefully walked inside.
Unexpectedly, there was not much dust here. When Schiller saw the nurse's uniform hanging beside the door, he understood what was going on.
There were two particularly unusual presences in the hospital: the nurse and the Bear Attendant. Both of them roamed the hospital's inner layers.
Schiller had previously asked Manny, "Why can't we use the corridor outside the operating room? Why do we have to return to the reception desk through a passage, then use another passage to reach other operating rooms?"
Manny's answer had been, "That isn't my territory."
In other words, only the two ends connected by the passages lay within the part of the hospital Manny could control. Every room
