Just as Schiller and Danny were talking, Strange came out. When Schiller turned and saw him dressed as Doctor Strange, he roughly understood what was going on.
"You two carry on," Schiller said. "The Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. asked me to check on the Sanctum Sanctorum's operations. Don't mind me."
With that, he walked to the back of the hall to wait for the elevator, while Strange led Danny upstairs by the staircase on the other side.
Several years had passed, and the Sanctum Sanctorum's layout had changed somewhat. It still resembled a bank, but many of the rooms now served different functions.
Schiller found someone in the second-floor office area to show him the way. Fortunately, most of the staff had not changed and still recognized him. A woman wearing an ID badge approached.
"Long time no see, Doctor. Have you been well lately?"
"Not bad, ma'am. Could you take me to Doctor Strange's office?"
"Of course. This way, please."
On the way to Doctor Strange's office, Schiller listened as the woman described the Sanctum Sanctorum's development over the years. In short, there had not been much development. They were still doing the same things as before.
There had been some changes recently, though. Because of the drastic shifts in the cosmic situation, certain magical races had become involved as well, and many had come to the Sanctum Sanctorum for help. Strange was considering opening a branch in the Andromeda galaxy. Only something this significant could probably make him take several days off from surgery.
As they chatted, they arrived at the corridor where Strange's office was located. The moment they stepped into it, the place looked entirely different. It was no longer a modern office space, but had become somewhat antiquated, more like a part of Kamar-Taj.
