"Is there any way to ease it temporarily?"

Schiller laced his fingers together, rubbing the second knuckle of one thumb against the other. After pondering for another two seconds, he said, "There is a way, but it isn't conventional."

"Say it." Amanda made the decision without hesitation.

Schiller looked through the cell door at the "Wise Man" inside. Ten seconds later, he raised his head and said, "Done."

Amanda stared at him wide-eyed.

"God, that just felt like an entire century." The "Wise Man" coughed twice. "I'm fine now. When do we leave?"

"What did you do to him?"

Schiller shook his head without speaking. Amanda assumed he did not want to reveal his superpower, but Schiller really had done nothing to him. Charles had.

After that previous brainwave sacrifice, Charles had given Schiller another segment of brainwaves. Of course, the "Wise Man's" temporal perception disorder was caused by a brain lesion and could not be improved by altering brainwaves.

So Charles had directly taken over the "Wise Man's" body.

The person standing before Amanda now was no longer her prisoner, but Charles.
