Another peaceful day had arrived, but a new visitor had come to the edge of the Solar System. An elderly woman in black armor and a golden cape stood on an asteroid fragment, gazing toward the Solar System.

"Unbelievable..." she murmured. "How did Krypton end up here? Weren't those idiots on it wiped out long ago? Could this be New Genesis's doing again?"

She stood there thinking for a while, then beckoned to one of her subordinates. "Fly in and take a look. Remember, don't make too much of a commotion. If you really find traces of that artificial intelligence, report back to me."

The subordinate quickly flew inside, then returned not long afterward. "His signals are everywhere in the Solar System—on Krypton, Mars, and Earth. It looks like he has completely occupied this star system."

"Hmph." The elderly woman snorted, revealing a sinister smile. "Occupied? I'd say it's far too early for that. Come on, we need to report back to the great Lord Darkseid. Before long, this place will become his territory!"

Inside an office at Gotham University, Jonathan Crane, sporting enormous dark circles under his eyes, threw himself onto the sofa and let out a long breath.

"God, do you know how hard it is for me to make a little money?!" Jonathan picked up the box he had just tossed aside.

When he opened it, a faint yellow glow spilled out. He took out its contents, revealing a small ring.

After putting it on, Jonathan took a deep breath. Yellow light flashed through his eyes as he said, "In blackest day, in brightest night. Beware your fears made into light. Let those who try to stop what's right burn like my power, S.H.I.E.L.D. authority! I am the new Lantern of Earth Sector—Jonathan Crane."
