A cosmic spectacle appeared in the old district—two "Batmen" were being hunted at the same time.
More precisely, two Batmen who were not Batman were being hunted together. The one running ahead looked like Main Universe Batman, but was actually Elliot; the one slightly behind looked like Batman, but was actually the Batman-Joker hybrid, The Batman Who Laughs.
Main Universe Joker was chasing Elliot, while Schiller was naturally chasing Laughing Man.
Elliot had originally run in the direction Laughing Man had pointed, just one step away from rendezvousing with the security forces coming from that direction. But as he ran, he heard footsteps behind him. When he turned around, Laughing Man was running over too.
Elliot desperately wanted to ask him, "Why are you running?" But then he saw Joker, who had previously been flung away, chasing after them again. There was no time to ask. Run—whoever was slower became the front line.
Fortunately, the main force had arrived ahead. Elliot darted beneath the legs of a bipedal robot. Without caring whether Laughing Man had made it through, he pointed furiously at the street he had come from and roared, "Fire! Open fire now!"
Countless robots, drones, and security personnel began pouring out firepower. But things were obviously not so simple. The pursuers were extremely fast; Elliot had barely arrived when they leaped into the formation.
Hearing Elliot's order to open fire, Laughing Man cursed furiously, "Do you have even the most basic tactical sense?! Why the hell are you opening fire now?!"
Main Universe Batman, watching the livestream in the office, could not help shaking his head. The person chasing you was less than ten meters away and incredibly fast, essentially in the same engagement range as you. Ordering the troops to fire ahead had only two possible outcomes:
