Everyone else turned to look at Pride, but he merely smiled and said nothing more. No one pressed him, because as long as Pride had thought of it, they could all find it in the memory archive. They could look it up after the movie was over.
"I still don't quite understand. What did he want Laughing Man's head for?" Agent asked. "Even if he wanted to use his head as a ball, wouldn't the blindfold stab his foot? And is it really okay to just leave the body there?"
"My guess is that Sickly is testing something."
"What?"
"Do you remember the egg dug out of Bruce's mental world back then, and the one that was later sent to another world by the monster in the Speed Force?"
"You mean The Laughing Egg?"
"Exactly. Anatoly plotted against Laughing Man, and Laughing Man would naturally strike back. He left Laughing Eggs in many places; they were effectively his backups. When do you think he would activate them?"
"Obviously when the situation had deteriorated to a certain point." Agent thought for a moment. "Laughing Man couldn't predict us, but he should have been able to predict some of Anatoly's actions. Because he knew he couldn't completely stop Anatoly's arrangements, he prepared in advance and made many backups for himself. Perhaps he foresaw that one day, we would force him into his current predicament."
"Exactly. He scattered eggs everywhere just for this day," Greed said. "Although he isn't dead yet, being reduced to only a head is practically the same thing. Once he feels he has no room left to struggle, he should activate those backups."
"Wait." Greed suddenly realized something. "There should only be one Laughing Man in the Multiverse, right?"
"I suppose Sickly wants to test exactly that," Pride said.
