They entered the sanatorium and toured the building, but there was not much to see. Most patients seemed perfectly normal when they were not having an episode. The doctors and nurses were orderly as well. It looked like an utterly ordinary sanatorium.
So they went to Schiller's office. Their main purpose had been to ask about the Spiritual Energy Resurgence. Before coming, they had already learned from Stark what changes had taken place in this universe. Even so, seeing it with their own eyes was still shocking.
"It is exactly as you see it." Schiller twirled the pen in his hand. "Humanity in our universe is nearing magical ascension. Our lifespans and physical abilities have greatly improved, and we can now use magic as well. Some magical ingredients have been selling quite well lately. I even made a little money from them."
"Yes. But I want to know how you did it." Main Universe Batman stared straight into his eyes.
Schiller smiled. "Everything comes at a price. We merely sacrificed the main forces of the Three Great Empires in exchange for generations of human prosperity."
"How did you do it?"
"Not me. My contribution was negligible. Ordinary people and superheroes worked together to accomplish this miraculous feat."
Main Universe Batman fell silent in thought. He could tell Schiller was not lying, yet he still felt there was more to it than that.
"If you want to do the same, two things are crucial. First, a converter that can devour other things and turn them into energy, upgrading Earth through energy conversion. Here, we call that thing the World Tree. Second, enough nourishment. Any matter in the universe can be broken down into energy. As long as there is enough of it, quality is not a problem."
