"Long time no see, Agent Romanov." Schiller looked expressionless, only lowering the ends of his brows slightly as he greeted her to show his friendliness. In that instant, Natasha knew the trip had been worthwhile.
"Administrative leave over?" The two walked shoulder to shoulder toward the other end of the corridor like old friends, casually discussing a topic every agent knew well.
"Ended yesterday." Schiller said, "The office still looks hopeless. What do you think of the new job?"
"A complete mess." Natasha slowed her pace and shook her head.
They reached the coffee machine. Seeing Schiller effortlessly holding a paper cup in one hand and pressing the buttons with the other without even looking up, Natasha knew this guy was a real agent.
"The president never considers whether the people below him live or die when he gives orders." Natasha feigned a complaint. "Now we have to fight these sleepless monsters to the bitter end. They really ought to give me some beauty leave."
"That will have to wait until this is over." Schiller's voice sounded somewhat low beneath the bubbling noise of the coffee machine. "Besides the arrest orders, what else were you told?"
"Stop trying to sound me out. We're the same rank. I've also been granted internal law enforcement authority. Whoever I arrest belongs to me, so don't even think about swooping in to pick up the leftovers." Natasha raised her brows rather unfriendly.
"Can't I even participate in the interrogation?"
