Bang!
The final shot hit dead center. In the shooting range booth, Schiller slowly lowered the arms holding his pistol, took off his clear safety goggles, and wiped them with a tissue from beside him.
Natasha walked in from outside, picked up a pair of goggles and put them on, then stepped into the booth on the other side and raised her gun. Bang! Bang! Bang! Three consecutive shots earned her a high score.
"How is Wonder Woman?" Schiller asked.
"If I said she had come around, you definitely wouldn't believe it. But other than trying to understand her situation as much as possible and make use of it, there wasn't much else she could do."
"She's a demigoddess."
"That doesn't matter." Natasha slowly lowered her arm. "If those naïve fantasies she has about Batman didn't vanish completely the instant she entered this situation, then they never will. And she'll never be able to resist."
"Is that love?" Schiller put his fingerless tactical gloves back on, rubbing the peeling edge of the "FBI" lettering on the back of one glove with the fingers of the other hand before picking up his gun and taking aim again.
Natasha turned around instead, leaning against the table as she watched the electronic clock on the wall behind her and listened to its faint mechanical clicks. "That isn't love. I hope she realizes that soon."
Natasha's earpiece lit up. Listening to the voice coming through it, she frowned, stretched one hand over the partition between the booths, pressed her index and middle fingers together, and flicked Schiller's tactical vest on the shoulder. "Stop wasting time here. Something happened."
