Schiller went downstairs. The Punisher was waiting below in a car. When he saw Schiller arrive, he got out of the driver's seat, walked around the car, and sat in the passenger seat while Schiller took the wheel.
He turned the key, but the engine failed to start. He tried again, but it still wouldn't start. The Punisher got out to inspect it. After a while, he said, "There's nothing wrong with the engine. It's probably the ignition. The Avengers base isn't far from here. Let's take a cab."
They got out and hailed a taxi. The cab headed toward the Avengers base, but before long, curses came through the driver's radio. He stuck his head out to look at the road ahead, then shook his head and said, "I'm afraid you'll have to get out here. I don't know why, but the road ahead's been blocked off. It's only two kilometers from here, though. If you have to, you can walk."
They got out and paid the fare. Schiller and the Punisher walked forward, only to discover that two streetlight poles ahead had somehow fallen over. They hadn't hit any cars, but they lay across the middle of the road, making it impossible for any vehicle to pass. Traffic cops were directing cars away.
But New York City's municipal efficiency had always been abysmal. Moving two streetlight poles that large would take at least an afternoon. Most cars either took detours or turned around, while quite a few people abandoned their vehicles and continued on foot.
"Someone's stopping us," The Punisher said with a frown.
"Obviously." Schiller picked up his gun and glanced upward.
"Could it be Ultron?"
"Maybe. Or maybe it's someone else."
After walking for a while, they finally reached the Avengers base without further trouble. But
