Main Universe Batman had just stepped out of the conference room when he heard a somewhat familiar voice, one that made no attempt to conceal its malice. Turning his head, he saw Owlman's two round eyes.
"Hello, Owlman." Main Universe Batman stopped and looked at him. "If not being Batman makes you so proud, then stop diving headfirst into the bat pile every time you choose which group you belong to. It only makes you look starved for affection."
Owlman froze. His mind even went blank for a moment from the insult. No, man, what was that about? Why was he so angry?
I failed at dark magic, got hunted by my own teammates, had my location exposed by evil Electronic Life, and was ultimately taken to another universe—and I wasn't this resentful. Did the sky fall or something?
Main Universe Batman was not usually someone who insulted people. Those worth scolding, he would not communicate with through personal attacks; those not worth scolding, he would not even spare a glance. He had never even personally insulted Joker. For a moment, Owlman did not know whether he should feel honored.
He had thought that if he came out to provoke Batman, Main Universe Batman would, as usual, silently glance at him and then turn away. Of course, if that man in metal armor had been around, he might have wanted to punch him, but Main Universe Batman would have stopped him. Why was today's script wrong? Had Batman taken gunpowder pills?
"I..." Owlman opened his mouth, yet for a moment, he did not know how to refute him. Main Universe Batman had really hit the nail on the head.
