In the pitch-black night, a light flickered faintly in a room on the second floor of Wayne Manor. Hal stood in the middle of the room with his hands raised. He turned and saw an elderly face.

"I know you have a peculiar ability that lets you disappear and reappear instantly, but from what I've observed, activating it takes time. Do you think you can vanish faster than I can pull the trigger?"

If any of the people living in Wayne Manor had heard Alfred's words at that moment, they would have been deeply shocked. The old butler seemed like a different person. He had never spoken to anyone in the manor in such a cold tone.

To most people, Alfred was always the smiling old butler carrying a tray, setting the table beside the dining table, or dusting off the display shelves.

But his current stance made it clear that this was far from the first time he had held a gun. He gripped a double-barreled shotgun with a solid wood stock. Its long barrels reflected a chilling gleam beneath the light, and the muzzle was pressed against Hal's waist.

Hal swallowed. He did not dare move. Just as Alfred had said, activating his Green Lantern abilities took a certain amount of time. Under normal circumstances, that time was so short it could be ignored, but the most fatal issue was that the Green Lantern ring glowed.

The moment Hal drew upon Green Lantern energy, the Green Lantern ring would emit green light. That light would spread across his entire body in an instant, but even an extremely brief instant was still time. Hal had no doubt that the moment his ring gave off even the faintest gleam, the trigger would be pulled.
