Early the next morning, Schiller woke once again to a burst of noise. Squinting, he walked to the window, drew back the curtains, and opened it. Then he saw a small blue figure bouncing around amid the crowd, wagging its tail, with a girl in a pink uniform standing beside it.

"Gwen Stacy!" Schiller called to her. "Come up!"

Gwen Stacy soon came upstairs carrying Sharkdog Jeff. Jeff had clearly had the time of his life; the moment she set him down, he panted with his tongue hanging out. Gwen Stacy cheerfully greeted Schiller. "Good morning, Doctor. I got your email—the Strongest Mercenary in the Universe, Gwen Stacy, reporting for duty!"

"Very good, ma'am. Come in." Schiller smiled at her. "I called you here because I have a job for you. The pay is quite generous, so you may want to consider it."

"Great, I've been short on cash lately." Gwen Stacy shrugged. "So, what's the job? I can definitely—"

Before she could finish, someone sprang up onto the balcony behind Schiller. She instinctively drew her gun and aimed it, only to hear a shriek. "Oh, wait! Don't shoot! You disgusting pink knockoff!"

Schiller turned and saw Deadpool leap inside, but his words got him into Big Trouble. With a bang, a shot struck Deadpool. Fortunately, Gwen Stacy had not fired a real bullet, but a paintball.

That was good news for Deadpool, but not for Schiller's office—the paintball burst and splattered pigment all over the floor. Schiller sighed helplessly.

"Stop fighting!" he said. "Clean the floor before you leave!"

Gwen Stacy stuck out her tongue, but she still planted her hands on her hips and said to Deadpool, "Watch your mouth. I'm no knockoff. Besides, pink is the prettiest color in the world. Wearing black from head to toe
