Polaris looked like she had drunk a little too much and kept pitching toward the bar. So they supported her together, brought her to a nearby seat, and settled into a corner booth.

Arkham Knight waved a hand in front of her eyes and said, "Hey, Lorna, are you still alive? You called me over, then got yourself this drunk..."

"Get lost!" Polaris snapped irritably, swatting his hand away. Then she leaned back and collapsed onto the sofa, squinting up at the ceiling.

"So you're not drunk after all?" Arkham Knight said. "I thought you were going to tear this bar apart with a magnetic storm."

"This is Hellfire Club... property..."

"Fine, forget that. I heard someone proposed to you? Congratulations."

Peter and Miles squeezed together on one sofa, baring their teeth. "You really aren't afraid she'll tear this place apart with a magnetic storm!"

Polaris snapped upright like a carp flipping out of water, then leaned forward, bared her teeth, and glared at Arkham Knight. "Get lost!"

"I'm serious." Arkham Knight picked up his glass. "Come to think of it, you and I are kind of in the same boat."

"What, someone proposed to you too?"

"That's not what I mean. I mean our past experiences. I told you before, didn't I? I was an orphan, and then Batman adopted me one day."

"I know. Then you became his sidekick, and when I asked why you struck out on your own, you stopped talking."

"Because that was my psychological trauma too. We weren't close back then, so why would I tell you?"

"Fine. But I can guess. You hit your rebellious phase, didn't want your old man controlling you, so you ran away from home to rebel and became an independent hero. Who didn't go through that phase..." Polaris
