Peter stared at the surroundings in shock. It had been close to evening when they went to the cemetery, so why had it suddenly changed to daytime? Was he hallucinating?
Shadow Spider-Man came from an earlier era. There had been no particularly advanced video games back then, and the imagination found in science fiction had been fairly limited as well. Although he had learned as much modern knowledge as possible after encountering the Multiverse, his powers of association were still nowhere near as rich as those of people from the age of information explosion. He merely thought that he had lost too much blood and this was the Revolving Lantern before he passed out. He had experienced something like this before.
Research had shown that the experience of passing out from excessive blood loss differed from other situations. It was called "the moment closest to death." Many people experienced a Revolving Lantern at such times. It lasted only an instant, yet felt as though an eternity had passed.
But Peter quickly overturned that guess, because this Revolving Lantern was far too real. It did not feel like a Dream at all. He pinched himself and found that it hurt. He jumped in place, and his control over his body was no different from the real world.
He touched his forehead again and was startled to find that the wound was gone. Just then, someone walked over from the road and looked at him with concern. "What's wrong with you?"
"Ah, nothing. I just... may I ask where this is?"
"Here? This is Big Valley Town. Are you a tourist? Don't tell me you got lost. Why not get in my car? I can take you for a drive through the valley."
"No, that won't be necessary." Peter shook his head.
