The two reappeared in the center of the arena. The Beyonder jumped down from the floating island and landed between them, beginning separate interviews. He first approached Main Universe Superman and said, "What a shame, Superman. Your final counterattack was brilliant, but unfortunately, Heat Vision was actually slower than a batarang..."
Main Universe Superman shook his head. "It wasn't that Heat Vision was slower than the batarang. He threw it in this direction before he even left the car."
"You mean he predicted your move?"
"Yes and no. He could calculate the optimal position from which to throw the batarang, and there happened to be a point along the Batmobile's flight path that was one of those optimal positions. So when the Batmobile reached that point, he had already thrown the batarang. I fired Heat Vision afterward."
"So that's how it was." The Beyonder could not help applauding. "So you didn't expect him to throw a batarang?"
"I expected it. I just had to gamble that, in such an emergency, he wouldn't bother aiming for the optimal position. But clearly, he's Batman. He wouldn't make a mistake in a situation like that."
Main Universe Superman took a deep breath—the explanation had actually come from Batwoman. He could not calculate anything like an optimal position. Then he gave his own opinion:
"Actually, I was at a disadvantage from the beginning of this fight. I could tell that he had developed better than I had in the previous game and must have gotten quite a few useful items. An effect like guaranteed knockdown couldn't have been there from the start..."
"Excellent! Then let's ask Batman whether that's true." The Beyonder held the microphone out to Arkham Batman.
Arkham Batman nodded. "That's right. But it wasn't an item. It was a skill upgrade.
