During the military meeting, an officer gritted his teeth and said, "I never agreed with the plan to bring him in for the experiment!"
"Easy for you to say! The people above were desperate for results, and we didn't have any experts. The most qualified one had been placed under Superman's watch, and we couldn't even contact him. Who else could we have gone to besides Luthor?!"
"We'd already offended Luthor beyond repair. Of course he'd find a way to take revenge when the opportunity came. Once people find out this monster was our creation, we're finished!!!"
"No, no one can be allowed to know." One of the officers stood and said, "There's an alien spaceship parked above our heads anyway. We'll say it came down from there. Who could verify it?"
The meeting room immediately erupted into discussion, but quite a few people nodded in agreement. "That's right. Say it's an alien monster. They've never seen what aliens look like anyway. As long as it has nothing to do with us, it's fine."
"I agree. As long as we can explain it to Congress, that's enough. Those honorable congressmen don't really care what losses there are."
"No, that isn't enough. That's the center of Metropolis. With something this huge happening, putting forward one culprit won't calm public opinion. We need to find a way to divert attention."
"I have an idea." An officer spoke up. "We'll say Superman is an alien too, and this is an alien civil war. Plenty of people worship Superman. They'll be shocked when they hear this, and everyone will be talking about Superman instead of us."
"I think it'll work. Let's do it. But how do we prove he's an alien?
