"Wait, this doesn't seem to have much to do with superpowers." Clark suddenly realized, then continued:
"Isn't this just another way of saying, 'You need to consider the consequences before you act'?"
"Yes, but I imagine your parents told you 'You need to consider the consequences before you act' countless times. Did you listen?"
Clark opened his mouth, a complicated expression appearing on his face. He had clearly recalled some unpleasant experiences. He let out a deep sigh and said, "Yeah, my parents emphasized that phrase to me more times than I can count, but I..."
"Back then, I only felt that they didn't understand me at all. I felt like they refused to see things from my perspective. They didn't know how much I'd sacrificed, didn't know that I was hurting too. I felt wronged. I even ran away from home because of it."
"But this kind of decision really does seem to be my own business. Deciding whether something is worth such a price based on what I'll gain, judging what I gain based on the price I paid... there really doesn't seem to be anything about superpowers involved... So what was I struggling with before?"
"What do you think superpowers are? Are they the core of your identity?"
"Of course not. I'm me. I'm Clark."
"Or perhaps this explanation will satisfy you: your personality is shaped by factors such as your upbringing and environment, while your superpowers are merely a tool you possess."
"I suppose you could put it that way." Clark answered somewhat uncertainly.
"Then how are they any different from other tools? Your father fell in love with your mother and married her, raised and educated you, interacted with the neighbors, and got along well with them. Did any of that have anything to do
