"Bruce, take a look at this." Victor called Bruce and sent him a whole batch of photos. Then he said, "I found these in an art museum. They should be paintings by Martians, and they look pretty good."
Bruce flipped through the images Victor had sent, then froze. He realized that Martian artistic styles really were very different from human ones. They were not realistic at all. Calling them abstract would be a bit much; they were more like magical realism.
For example, when they painted a tree, it still had the outline of a tree, but it was filled with strangely colored lines, along with many things unrelated to trees. If only one or two paintings were like this, it could be called a unique artistic style. But since most paintings by different artists shared this style, it proved that this was popular art in Mars City, something they could understand.
Bruce certainly could not understand it, so he contacted Ron and sent him the photos. Ron remained silent for a long time before answering. "Martians have a talent for telepathy. We do not know a person through their appearance, but through their spiritual world. The same applies to objects. Those colored lines you cannot understand are actually expressing the feelings of the spiritual world."
"I see." Bruce nodded. "Thank you so much, Ron."
"It's nothing..." Ron fell silent for a long while, but he did not hang up, and neither did Bruce. After a while, Ron finally asked, "Where did you find these paintings?"
"Victor found them, apparently in an art museum. Why?"
"These are children's paintings," Ron said. "Their expression of the spiritual world is very simple. They merely painted what they saw without too much embellishment. My daughter painted pictures like this too."
