"It still doesn't seem quite right," Clark said. "That can't be his only objective. If he wanted us to watch out for Amanda, he could have come to the office and told me directly, or called. Other than Batman, no one else would wiretap the President's phone."

"Who knows? He loves beating around the bush," Diana said. "Getting people like them to speak plainly is far too difficult. They always talk in vague, suggestive ways. It's their habit."

After a pause, Diana continued, "But I also think that can't be his only goal. Simply making us stay on guard is obviously not enough. I refuse to believe he doesn't hate Amanda."

"He definitely hates Amanda," Clark said. "The last time Congress approached him and asked him to take over Sky Eye, it was because Amanda had died. Then after Amanda came back to life, she went looking for him again to make him do this kind of thankless work. He'll definitely teach her a lesson."

"Could he be trying to get us to deal with Amanda?" Barry asked. "But like you said, all he had to do was tell you. There'd be no need to guide you into it. You'd definitely go after Amanda. No one hates her more than you do."

"Have you considered that Amanda isn't the real focus at all?" Ron spoke up, his voice carrying its usual calmness. "Someone like Schiller wouldn't waste too much effort on a clown like her. It looks like he's targeting Amanda, but I'm afraid the person he truly wants to target is the real mastermind behind everything."

"You mean Death?"

"Exactly," Ron said. "Obviously, having Amanda stage something like an assassination of the President might help him uncover the mastermind's movements, or let him do something directly to him."
