Brainiac was left speechless. In truth, he could not make sense of it either. Schiller had stormed out so aggressively, only to leave the stage rather than take it. Yet things had not improved at all after his departure; they had only gotten worse. At the moment, there were at least four or five serial murder cases to track down. Every killer was a master of concealment. Even with Brainiac controlling at least 90 percent of Gotham, they could still exploit the remaining 10 percent to commit murder. Anyone would have to call this an all-star lineup.
"I suggest you detain Jonathan Crane first," Tim said. "There's nothing particularly novel about his method of murder. As long as you can detect Fear Gas components in the air, you can charge him successfully. Once he stops causing trouble, we can focus on catching this copycat."
"I'll detain him," Brainiac said, "but he probably won't be going to prison, because he genuinely has mental illness. At most, he'll be committed for treatment."
"That's enough," Jena said. "We just need him to stop causing trouble for the time being. Otherwise, our workload will be too much."
Brainiac said nothing more. Clearly, he had begun moving to apprehend Jonathan. As Tim and Jena had said, catching him was not difficult. Jonathan would not resist at all, because he knew Brainiac would not do much to him.
When Brainiac found Jonathan, he was still busy in his laboratory. The moment the camera turned toward the lab bench, Brainiac froze. Why was that corpse here?
The body lying on the lab bench was the very corpse Jonathan had poisoned. It should have been lying on the coroner's autopsy table.
"How did you steal the body?" Brainiac asked.
"I wasn't hiding from you. Go check the surveillance
