"What is this?" Jack picked up the letter and looked it over. "It doesn't look like the sort of letter anyone would send me."

"It isn't." Barry still had some conscience and had no intention of lying to Jack. He briefly explained the cases, then said, "There must be some useful clues recorded in this letter, but no one dared read it. The power of mental contamination is terrifying..."

Before he had even finished speaking, Jack had already started opening the letter. He tore off the wax seal in a few quick motions, took out the paper, unfolded it, and scanned it from top to bottom. Barry looked extremely nervous but did not dare step closer, afraid that some monster might leap out of the letter.

Jack wore an expression of understanding. "This is a trap."

"What do you mean?"

"This was left behind by that so-called victim," Jack said. "He probably wasn't contaminated by this letter. He wrote this letter after being contaminated."

"How is that possible? Didn't Brainiac determine that this letter was written in 1873?"

"Maybe she really did write it in 1873." Jack shrugged. "It wouldn't be strange for someone contaminated to develop all kinds of problems. There are indeed some clues in here."

"Tell us in detail."

"He told me to look east through a window at the boundary of dusk. He claimed it would allow someone to gaze directly upon The Truth of the world."

Barry froze. "No wonder Jena said she looked outside the window. You mean that after she looked outside, she didn't die immediately. Instead, she left this letter behind."

"Yes, and the process may have taken a long time, perhaps several days. Long enough for her to prepare an envelope and wax seal."
