Fortunately, on the final test, they succeeded, finally making the pyramids form a welcoming corridor. Then a path emerged from the sand, but they still had no vehicle and could only continue on foot.
After walking for a while, the pyramids finally grew larger in their field of vision, which meant they were heading in the right direction. Before long, they encountered the first pyramid. There was no telling which one it was, but it probably was not the famous Great Pyramid of Giza.
Deathstroke walked over to the pyramid and took a look, then shook his head and said, "No door. We can't get in."
"Don't tell me this is another puzzle," Schiller said as he sized up the pyramid. "I can't possibly work with my stupid crab partner again."
"I don't think it is," Deathstroke said after circling all the way around it. "But the path ends here. Where are we supposed to go next?"
Schiller quietly studied the pyramid. In truth, even up close, the pyramid was not very large, not nearly as majestic as many people imagined. Perhaps some pyramids were larger, but this one was small. It was sealed on all sides, so there was definitely no way in. Then where exactly was the path?
"The shadow," Schiller was the first to notice something was off. He said, "The shadow on one side is longer."
Deathstroke looked up at the sky. The moon hung high overhead, but it was slightly off-center. This caused the shadow beneath one of the pyramid's four faces to be a little longer than the others.
"Is this really reliable?" Deathstroke said. "What if it's wrong?"
"Let's try it first." Schiller walked in that direction. Before long, they encountered a second pyramid.
"You were right," Deathstroke said. "We didn't walk far.
