The situation inside Lantern at that moment was everyone collectively sweating buckets. Greed was still reading the script, Stark was already wiping sweat away, Mephisto was studying the patterns on the panel, Scarecrow had his head lowered as he adjusted the mechanism, and Joker was looking up at the ceiling while whistling.
Only Agent was perfectly relaxed. His one and only hope was that someone would hurry up and come up here to kill the lot of them.
There was no question that the groups below had nearly pieced together the entire script. When Bruce deduced that the cultists were performing a sacrifice, Greed still had that "don't rush, I still have a twist" look; but when Charles deduced the conflict between the company and the tycoons, Greed wore an expression that said he had run out of moves.
That was right. Their deductions were basically all correct. Though this was an escape-room instance that did not put much emphasis on plot, it still had a backstory and a double twist. In short, it was roughly about mixing some religion and big capitalist corporation elements into the battle royale game, first making people think the villain was the tycoon, then making people think it was the cultists, but in the end, the company was the one that reaped the benefits.
The specific entanglements no longer mattered, because a twist guessed in advance did not count as a twist. No matter how the script played out later, there would be no surprises. Exactly how the cultists were going to perform the sacrifice, and how the company would fish in troubled waters to eliminate its competitors, could all be guessed as well.
If this were just a tabletop RPG scenario, the plot could be changed. Unfortunately, the mechanisms had already been set
