After the White Queen left, Magneto looked at Professor X with concern, then glanced at Schiller and said, "That move was far too risky. If Emma had lashed out at you in a moment of impulse, even I might not have been able to stop her completely. Charles, you should return to the Gravity Laboratory."

"Running away isn't the answer, Erik." Professor X looked into his eyes and said, "I know you want to protect me. You're worried that the radicals among the mutants will do something to me because the assault team was wiped out. But I must stand up bravely and take responsibility, to set an example for the children. I want to convene a general meeting..."

"No!" Magneto's brows furrowed deeply as he said, "Right now, it's already extremely difficult just to suppress the doubts about you within the Brotherhood of Mutants. If public opinion had not been so unfavorable, I wouldn't have let you stay in the laboratory at all."

"But if I stay in the laboratory, all the blame will fall on you, Erik. How can I let you face all of this alone?"

Schiller had already sat down behind the desk and started playing on his phone. This was the problem with mutant comic universes: a third of the plot was always about Magneto and Professor X, those two madmen, breaking up and making up.

Anytime, anywhere, in any major event, if their emotional entanglements were missing, the comic might as well not get published. The only difference was that some comics had more plot and some had less.

Whether these two started out loving each other or trying to kill each other determined the main tone of the comic. How bizarrely they loved and fought each other determined the length of the comic.
