"Why was he this drunk?" Black Widow pulled a stool over and sat down beside the sofa, resisting the urge to throw a glass of ice water over Main Universe Iron Man to wake him. She brought out nearly all the gentleness she had and changed the towel on his head.
Captain America stood off to the side and sighed, not knowing what to say. After thinking for a long while, he said, "It's only because he's passed out drunk that I dare say this. Tony is very smart, but sometimes he's also very stupid."
Black Widow looked up at him. Captain America said, "If Stephen was willing to go into the operating room and gamble everything for him, how could he have been that angry just because Tony interfered?"
"You've confused me too. Wasn't Stephen being angry obvious? He was practically furious enough to die."
"When you make someone angry, you'd better figure out the root cause of that anger. If you get it wrong, then the more you try to coax him, the angrier he gets."
Black Widow agreed with that. She looked at Main Universe Iron Man's face, then said, "I feel like he's never understood it at all. Who could force Stephen Strange to do anything?"
"I thought geniuses would understand geniuses better," Captain America said as he sat down. "They're different from ordinary people like us. They should understand better that the other person was never out of options. But I didn't expect them to make the same mistake."
Black Widow gave a soft laugh. She gently pressed down on the towel over his forehead.
