In the flickering lights of Green Lantern Headquarters' central command core, Hal sat quietly before the screen, studying the information.

Just moments ago, his ring had notified him that he could download the information he needed into it and call upon Green Lantern energy at any time to transmit it directly into his brain.

But Hal did not press the confirmation button.

From birth to adulthood, Hal had always believed he was a good person. Not the kind of saint who considered others at every moment while completely disregarding his own feelings—he could be hot-blooded, stubborn, argue with his parents, and fall out with friends—but the conviction to help the weak and save people from disaster had always been etched into his bones.

Many people had received his help over the years. He had saved children from drowning, stopped robbers in the street, and helped homeless beggars when he himself was not well-off. He was not some saint determined to save the whole world, just an ordinary good person with a conscience.
