"Please, have a seat, Dr. Hugo. I seem to recall that we've never sat down face-to-face and had a proper talk like this before." Schiller walked over to the single sofa by the window and pointed to the seat across from him. Hugo remained where he was, slightly wary.
"I'm sorry for bringing you here this way, but I really do have something urgent to discuss. Forget the plan you were plotting with that delusional patient. I have something more important to talk to you about."
Hugo narrowed his eyes. "The last time I sank into the dream world—was that your doing? That monster, and that battle..."
"So you were there at the time. I thought you'd already been kicked out because your mental strength couldn't hold up. It seems I was right about you after all." Schiller took a book from the shelf behind him and began reading it.
Hugo laced his fingers together, paused for a moment, then walked toward the chair opposite Schiller.
"I think you've already realized that the two of us are the same kind of people. Before, that was merely a small welcoming ceremony—a Gotham-style nasty joke. I imagine you're used to that by now." Schiller smiled at Hugo.
Hugo snorted coldly. He refused to show weakness before Schiller, so he could not admit that Schiller's supposedly nasty little joke had left him quite badly shaken.
"You enjoy controlling others, prying into the secrets of their inner worlds and taking pleasure in manipulating them into committing crimes. So do I." Schiller looked at Hugo and said, "The difference is that I'm closer to the man called Batman. He trusts me more, so I know he has uncovered part of your plot. He should be working out a strategy to deal with you right now."
