A few minutes earlier, Bat-Cat had emerged from his Batcave and was on his way to deal with Schiller when, unsurprisingly, he ran into Bane and the group of mad cats he had released from Mad Cat Asylum.

Bat-Cat had always believed that Bane-Cat was dependent on the liquid in those tubes. Therefore, the cell built for Bane-Cat had equipment that pumped in excessive amounts of the liquid, only to cut off the supply at regular intervals and keep Bane in a prolonged state of withdrawal.

But he had not expected that Bane had long since kicked the habit and no longer suffered such severe withdrawal symptoms.

So, when Bat-Cat followed his old plan and focused his attacks on the tubes on Bane-Cat's back, causing the liquid to leak, he was ambushed by Bane, who had pretended to be weakened. This forced him to bring out the hovercraft he had intended to use against Schiller ahead of schedule and activate its weapons.

Bat-Cat weighed whether to deal with Schiller first or Bane and the mad cats first. In the end, he chose the latter. Once these mad cats entered the city, they would cause far more damage than Schiller ever could. So he changed course from Mad Cat Asylum and pursued Bane and the others here.

What he had not expected was to run into Clark halfway there. Clark directly wrecked his hovering saucer, and Bat-Cat himself was pinned down here.

Though he was worried about the situation inside Mad Cat Asylum, Bane had already taken those mad cats out. The remaining empty asylum should not cause any major trouble, so Bat-Cat decided to deal with this group of cats first and worry about Schiller later.
