Clark stared at the medal in shock, his eyes widening. "This is from the Soviet Union... God, they're Soviet spies!"
He rubbed the medal with his finger again, held it up for a closer look, and said, "That's right. This is the symbol I saw on TV. My dad told me that country on the other side... what kind of ism did they call it again?"
"I remember my dad and mom even had an argument over it. My dad didn't believe the United States government's propaganda and thought that country wasn't so bad either. My mom said he was just trying to be provocative..."
Clark seemed to sink into a memory. Clearly, throughout his childhood, he had often heard the name of that distant nation. Then he looked down at the two people lying on the ground and said, "But why were they watching me? Could they be trying to use me to destroy the United States?"
Bat-Cat leaped onto the table across from Clark and said, "You believed it just like that? You think they really are spies from the country represented by that medal?"
"Uh, what else could they be?" Clark froze at the question.
"When you do something bad, do you write your own name on your face?" Bat-Cat asked helplessly.
"I've never done anything bad." Clark shook his head and answered with complete sincerity. Bat-Cat covered his eyes with a paw again. "If they really were spies from some country, why would they deliberately carry identification with them during a mission? So you'd know who they were after knocking them out?"
Only then did Clark realize it. "Right, why would spies carry identification on them? They should want nobody to know who they are, shouldn't they?"
