Half an hour later, Schiller arrived at Gotham University's office, dragging Master Mirror, who had been soaked like a drowned rat. At that moment, Victor was packing up, getting ready to leave work.
Seeing Schiller suddenly bring in a stranger, he curiously leaned closer and asked, "What's going on? Who is he? Why did you bring him into the school?"
Schiller gave Master Mirror a hard slap, making him stagger in place. Then Schiller looked at him and asked, "Come to think of it, I haven't asked your name yet. What is it?"
"My name is Sam, Sam Scudder," Master Mirror answered, shrinking his neck.
He was under someone else's roof now and had no choice but to bow his head. The black curse wrapped around him had yet to be lifted, and he could clearly feel his life force draining away. If Schiller could not remove the curse for him, he was as good as dead. So, he could only follow Schiller to Gotham University.
Targeting Master Mirror's weakness, Schiller first used psychological tactics to make him panic. Then, while he was caught off guard, he covered every reflective object. Finally, he left only one opening: the reflective umbrella blade.
But the umbrella blade and the umbrella handle were actually one piece. Living within that handle was Constantine's brother, the cursed soul who had been strangled to death by Constantine in their mother's womb and turned into a vengeful spirit.
A cursed soul could not attack proactively. It had to possess a person or an object, and the possession required contact for a certain amount of time. It could not simply float over through thin air, so Schiller had to lure Master Mirror into possessing the umbrella himself.
In his panic, Master Mirror chose the only available escape route
