Background / History

Hua Yuan grew up in an orphanage, where she was well cared for and excelled academically. After entering junior high school, her beauty and academic ability drew attention but also led to social isolation. A traumatic experience involving a senior boy became the basis of her Phobia-concretization: fear of men. 203 181

Within the Sisterhood, Hua Yuan became its most formidable senior member and one of Grandmother’s favored granddaughters. Her reputation for danger, invasive influence, and sharp intuition makes other sisters wary of her. 154 161

She witnessed the consequences of an earlier Corner Wanted Order before her pituitary gland had matured. The deaths associated with that operation left her especially focused and cautious when Grandmother assigned her cohort to hunt a monster incarnation at Saiwei Resort Island. 163 181

After reaching the Corner, Hua Yuan manages a flower garden and greenhouse, cultivating flowers for the Sisterhood. Her flowers are both a source of income and extensions of her body. 393 394 397

Appearance

Hua Yuan ordinarily resembles a striking high-school-aged girl whose beauty itself functions as part of her mental influence. Her appearance becomes more aggressive or floral depending on the stance she assumes. 154 161 185

  • Shoulder-length straight black hair with blunt bangs. 154
  • Prominent mole beneath her left eye. 154
  • Usually wears a white shirt, black-and-white uniform, plaid skirt, striped tie, white thigh-high socks, and black leather shoes. 154
  • Her pupils can turn deep crimson when exerting influence or hostility. 154
  • In Invader Stance, she grows taller and more muscular while retaining her face and hairstyle. 185
  • In floral forms, pistils emerge from her body and her flower-shaped pituitary gland may become exposed. 187

Personality

Hua Yuan initially presents herself as teasing, domineering, and manipulative. She enjoys testing boundaries, intimidating weaker sisters, and provoking those around her, but her cruelty is paired with a sharp understanding of power and etiquette within the Sisterhood. 154 157

Despite her reputation as selfish and aggressive, she becomes markedly more serious during the Saiwei Wanted Order. She investigates Luo Di’s nightmares, carries him while he is weakened, and prioritizes the mission after recalling the losses tied to an earlier Wanted Order. 175 181

She is highly competitive and takes pride in being talented and strong. Luo Di’s rapid growth unsettles her, contributing to anxiety that eventually leads her to seek the Manga Shop’s alternative path. 459

Hua Yuan’s bond with Luo Di reveals a more vulnerable side. She comes to trust his directness, accepts his support without demanding an explanation of his identity, and gradually shows genuine concern for her sisters and companions. 188 191 192

Abilities & Skills

Thought Influence

Hua Yuan’s innate ability is rooted in thought. Her image can be implanted directly into another person’s consciousness, where it becomes difficult to erase and is instinctively beautified in memory. 161

  • Charms nearby heterosexual people into feeling protective toward her. 175
  • Imprints an unusually vivid, persistent image of herself that even Wu Wen cannot perfectly imitate through disguise. 161
  • Can manipulate memories and exert limited mind-reading ability. 185
  • Can use mental intrusion to interrupt or redirect another person’s thoughts. 190
  • Cannot use thought-based tracking when a target is not thinking of her. 648

Thought Transfer

Hua Yuan can transfer her consciousness into the body of someone who thinks of her, allowing her to survive otherwise fatal damage. 181

  • Emerges from Shia’s body after being killed by the Village Chief. 202
  • Transfers herself into Luo Di immediately before her death against a special dead creature. 187
  • Can possess or reconstruct herself through Luo Di’s body, including by absorbing traits from it. 180 540
  • Transfer and reconstruction can severely weaken both Hua Yuan and her host. 187

Spirit Body

Her perfected spirit body is formed from the mentally filtered collective image of the aggressors who harmed her. It possesses immense destructive power but is connected directly to her mental state. 181 187

  • Can kill hostile targets, including the mutated Baldy. 181
  • Can uproot and throw trees as weapons. 187
  • Damage to the spirit body harms Hua Yuan mentally and physically. 187
  • Her spirit bodies can merge back into her physical form to enhance combat power. 185

Stances and Floral Forms

Hua Yuan previously alternated between the Victim Stance and Invader Stance before awakening the more balanced Blooming Stance. 205

  • Victim Stance — emphasizes control of spirit bodies. 205
  • Invader Stance — increases her size, muscle mass, aggression, and physical combat capacity. 185 205
  • Human Flower — exposes her flower-shaped pituitary gland and generates pistils for restraint and support; the exposed gland is a critical weakness. 187
  • Blooming Stance — unites the strengths of her two prior stances and produces real-and-illusory pistils alongside drifting pollen. 205

Flower Control

Hua Yuan controls the flowers in and around her greenhouse as external bodies and sensory extensions. 394

  • Cultivates flowers with corpses as nutrients in the garden granted by Grandmother. 393
  • Grows and supplies Brain Flowers for the Sisterhood. 397
  • Can make her flowers move aside, identify threats, and detect when a flower has been removed. 394
  • Uses pistils to heal and nourish Sister Eye after her eyes are damaged. 204
  • Can swallow hostile consciousness-based substances with pistils. 559
  • Produces pollen and nectar capable of invading a target’s body and Pituitary Space. 463

Manga Abilities

After her encounter with the Manga Shop, Hua Yuan’s abilities develop beyond her original Corner-based power. 459 772

  • Her manga influence initially destabilizes her, creating a widening abyss within her Pituitary Space. 559
  • Rebirth through her completed manga grants new abilities and black-and-white perception. 772
  • Can connect to Luo Di’s mind and help reverse his physiological transformation. 772
  • Creates manga spaces for others to occupy. 792
  • The Manga Shop’s influence remains dangerous; Grandmother warns that it may cause later problems even when no immediate symptoms are visible. 554

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Fishbone Club — A staff or club covered in fishbone-like spikes; it shows high compatibility with Hua Yuan’s invasion attribute. 190 191
  • Manga manuscript, “Hua Yuan” — The completed manga into which Hua Yuan transfers her self-awareness to undergo rebirth. 772
  • Flower garden and greenhouse — Her controlled cultivation space, filled with flowers that act as external bodies. 394

Relationships

  • Luo Di — Initially an object of curiosity and possession, Luo Di becomes Hua Yuan’s closest combat partner during the Saiwei Wanted Order. She trusts him with her history and repeatedly protects, assists, and relies on him. 181 188 191 772
  • Grandmother — Hua Yuan’s powerful superior and benefactor within the Sisterhood. Grandmother favors Hua Yuan, entrusts her with leadership during the Wanted Order, and later warns Luo Di to watch over her manga-related condition. 161 163 554
  • Shia — A close Sisterhood companion who can touch Hua Yuan without provoking her anger. They synchronize abilities for the Wanted Order, though Shia remains wary of Hua Yuan’s invasive behavior. 154 166
  • Wu Wen / Class Monitor — A former Sisterhood sister whose relationship with Hua Yuan is marked by attraction, rivalry, jealousy, and eventual cooperation. Grandmother orders them to live together and jointly support Luo Di’s future hunts. 157 448 452
  • Sister Eye — A supportive sister who later resides within Hua Yuan’s body and attempts to force her to flee an unwinnable battle. Hua Yuan in turn heals Sister Eye’s injured eyes. 203 204
  • Yu Lu — A senior Sisterhood member whom Hua Yuan respects but knows little about. They cooperate during Luo Di’s Death Game advancement. 398 407
  • The Clown — A powerful enemy Hua Yuan cannot defeat alone. Its intrusion into her greenhouse and repeated interference provoke her anger and determination to retaliate. 393 395 451
