An explosion erupted in the basement, and a blazing fireball suddenly flew in from the side—but Duncan had already reacted before it could reach him.
His perception was far faster than his body. The instant that abnormal energy appeared in the basement, he sensed that something was wrong. Without time to think, he instinctively raised a hand to block it!
A faint burning sensation came from his fingertips, but the next second, the Spirit Body Fire surged forth with explosive force and engulfed the fireball. Duncan caught the ball of flame shot from the corner of the basement out of thin air. The blazing fire was almost immediately dyed Eerie Green, and its violent energy instantly became docile, burning quietly in his hand.
Holding the fireball that had become Eerie Green spirit fire, Duncan slowly turned his head toward the direction of the attack.
The instant his gaze shifted away, the Abyssal Hound called "A'gou" immediately leaped backward. A rift swirling with countless shadows and black mist appeared out of nowhere where it landed. It jumped in without hesitation, while black iron chains dragged Shirley along with it. Before she flew into the rift, she spat fiercely to the side, several bloodied bullets falling onto the ground.
The next second, the girl and the dog vanished from the basement.
Hearing the movement, Duncan turned back in surprise, only to see the last glimpse of the girl's skirt disappearing into the rift—this bizarre girl-and-dog pair had run away in the brief moment he looked elsewhere.
He still had a whole pile of questions he had not gotten to ask!
And it was all because some cultist with abnormally tenacious vitality had suddenly launched a sneak attack.
Duncan was subtly annoyed. He looked once more toward where the fireball had come from
