Nature and Formation

A Martial Soul is formed from the owner's bodily energy rather than appearing from nothing. In Quan Yi's understanding, a stronger body can provide more energy to a Martial Soul, strengthening it in turn; Martial Soul quality and Soul Power are directly proportional. 1 18

Martial Souls are usually inherited through bloodlines, so members of the same clan commonly awaken the same type. However, the final form, development, and accomplishments of identical Martial Souls can differ greatly according to their owner's choices, Soul Rings, and cultivation path. 169

Awakening

Children generally awaken their Martial Souls at around six years old during a Martial Soul Awakening Ceremony. A Soul Master or Spirit Hall deacon activates an array, allowing the child's Martial Soul and Innate Soul Power to manifest. 4

Awakening results range from no Innate Soul Power to Innate Full Soul Power. Beast Martial Souls appear more likely than some other types to awaken Innate Soul Power, though this is an observation rather than a fixed rule. 4

New Martial Soul Awakening Array

The New Martial Soul Awakening Array converts Internal Power into Innate Soul Power at a stated one-hundred-percent conversion rate. Its associated Awakening Platform can also guide a newly condensing Martial Soul toward positive evolution, though the result still depends on the child's talent and effort. 1152 1153

Soul Rings, Skills, and Development
