"Two years ago? Craftsmen?" The young man was somewhat bewildered and looked toward the lean man with the severed hand beside him.

Both had only recently been promoted. Two years ago, the young man had not even known what the Incense Gathering Cult was.

"I know!" The lean man spoke through the pain. "That team. We sent people to investigate at the time. The whole group of craftsmen was seized and taken away by One-Ear. When we went to negotiate, One-Ear even cut off our envoy's ear. That later sparked a conflict, and only after our two chief altar masters acted did we drive One-Ear back."

"One-Ear? Are you certain?" Wei He countered. "There was a descendant of one of my enemies among those craftsmen. If it truly was One-Ear, then he did me a tremendous favor. I owe him a great debt of gratitude."

He had deliberately said the opposite, so the two would not intentionally steer their answers in a certain direction.

At the mention of a great debt of gratitude, the lean man's eyes flickered. He glanced at the young man.

The young man wore a blank, innocent expression and did not react at all. Communication failed.

"Senior, it truly was One-Ear who seized that group of craftsmen. We would not dare conceal this. If you want to find someone, you can only go outside the city," the lean man said helplessly.

"Think carefully. If you are lying..." Wei He said no more. His gaze merely turned cold as he suddenly raised his hand.
