"Holy shit, Old Wolf, how did you end up this messed up? Where's your demon magic? What? You still can't use demon magic in your growth stage?"
"Sorry, sorry."
Mo Fan had thought Old Wolf simply preferred fighting hand-to-hand, so he had not paid it any attention. He had not expected that it simply did not know demon magic yet.
Ghost Shadow
Mo Fan snapped his fingers, and the shadow beneath his feet suddenly stood upright. It looked exactly like Mo Fan, except scarlet red light shone from where its eyes should have been.
That was the result of Mo Fan's two years of hard work in Ancient Capital: Ghost Eye, the second Dark Star of the Ghost Shadow Evil Disciple.
Ghost Shadow shot toward Old Wolf like an arrow. Its scarlet ghost eyes were especially conspicuous in the night. The crimson glow flared brightly, then vanished before anyone could react.
When they looked again, they found that every Black Beast Demon surrounding Old Wolf had frozen in place, for some unknown reason.
Ghost Shadow then turned toward the two Black Flood Pavilion members, who were breaking out in cold sweat. It looked as though it was smiling, but its scarlet ghost eyes held no emotion—only endless malice boiling within them.
Ghost Shadow raised a hand and gestured across its neck.
Then, the heads of those frozen Black Beast Demons suddenly fell to the ground one after another like overripe apples.
The two Black Flood Pavilion members froze. What the hell was that thing? How had it instantly wiped out so many Black Beast Demons?
A third element??
Xiao Ding was shocked. Wasn't Junior Brother Mo Fan an Intermediate Mage like him? How could he have a third element?
The Ghost Wolf Beast was obviously a summoned beast, and Mo Fan had started with Fire Seed just now. Didn't that Shadow Ability make three elements?
Though utterly baffled, Xiao Ding did not ask Mo Fan about it at that moment.
Mo Fan was not in the mood to think about any of that. He tapped his earpiece and asked, "Ling Ling, do you want them alive or dead?"
"Living Black Flood Pavilion members can be exchanged for bounty money. What do you think? But only the black-robed ones can be traded in." Ling Ling did not care in the slightest whether the Grey-robed Cultists lived or died.
"Easy enough. Now I understand!"
Mo Fan clapped his hands, and Ghost Shadow seemed to receive the signal as it began eliminating the remaining Black Beast Demons!
Seeing how fierce its boss was, Old Wolf's fighting spirit was roused as well. It pounced on a Black Beast Demon, clamped its jaws around it, and with a crack, bit straight through its waist.
Mo Fan and Xiao Ding each faced a Black Flood Pavilion member. Wearing an expression that said, "You're as good as mine," Mo Fan said, "You should be glad you ran into me. If you had met someone else, tsk tsk tsk."
"If we met someone else, we'd die. If you capture us and take us back, we still won't escape death! Besides, you haven't caught us yet." The Black-robed Cultist saw the situation clearly.
"Oh? You understand things pretty well. Since you know this will get you killed, why did you join the Black Flood Pavilion?" Crimson lightning flickered in Mo Fan's palm.
"Ha ha ha ha!"
Upon hearing Mo Fan's words, the Black-robed Cultist burst into laughter. Yet for some reason, beneath that hearty laughter was a sense of sorrowful indignation and desolation.
"Do you think everyone who joins the Black Flood Pavilion is some mentally twisted lunatic? No. There are also poor people like us, people whose backs have never been willing to bend."
"If fairness yields to power, then do people like us have any way to survive? Since we couldn't survive, I could only seek strength and carve out a path to live!"
The Black-robed Cultist seemed to know that he definitely would not escape today. He directly tore off the black robe concealing his face, revealing a resolute countenance.
He looked to be only in his forties, still in the prime of life, but years of using evil arts had already turned his hair gray.
Mo Fan simply stood there and watched him, his expression unchanged. He was not a judge and had no right to determine who was right or wrong.
His only responsibility was to send the Black Flood Pavilion to hell. Whether they were black or white, heaven would decide.
"Boss, why waste words with him? Use evil arts and fight our way out. At worst, we lose twenty years of our lifespan. Let's go all out," the gray-robed man urged.
Crimson Moon Lightning Seal Fury Strike
A powerful electric current instantly surged from Mo Fan's palm, reducing the Grey-robed Cultist to charred ash.
"What's a small fry like you talking for?"
Mo Fan said without taking his eyes off the Black-robed Cultist.
Four elements!!!
Xiao Ding felt like he was going insane. Had what he just seen been real?
Why could an Intermediate Mage possess four elements?!
"I'm sorry for what happened to you, but that can't be a reason for me to let you go!!" Mo Fan commanded Ghost Shadow forward.
"I'm sorry too. I didn't tell you all that because I had a change of heart. I was stalling for time—Curse Fusion Technique!"
The resolute-faced man let out a low roar. Black mist suddenly began seeping from his body, and the cursed aura drifted toward the surrounding Black Beast Demons. Soul energy flowed from their bodies and converged upon the black-robed man.
Mo Fan frowned and hurriedly retreated a few steps. He knew this was an evil art of the Black Flood Pavilion. It could transfer the power of Black Beast Demons into the user's body, thereby strengthening their magic.
Fire Seed · Double Burst!!
Mo Fan was not without a response. He immediately threw out a Level 4 Fire Seed, killing the more distant Black Beast Demons before the man could absorb them. This indirectly weakened his evil art.
Radiance · Purify
Xiao Ding raised his hand and released the most basic Light Element magic, purifying the dark aura around them.
The black-robed man revealed a cruel smile. "Too late. You realized it far too late."
Wind Track · Floating Shadow
The Black-robed Cultist actually used a Level 3 Wind Track and fled into the distance.
"Old Wolf!" Mo Fan waved at the Ghost Wolf Beast, flipped onto Old Wolf's back, and had it give chase.
Xiao Ding's eyes widened. "Wait, I haven't gotten on yet! I haven't gotten on yet!"
Old Wolf was still extremely fast. Within seconds, it caught up with the Black-robed Cultist, raised a claw, and swiped at his back.
Pfft!
The wolf claw passed through as though it had struck air. The black-robed man vanished from where he stood, as if he had been formed from shadows.
Shadow Illusion Body
Mo Fan knew of this ancient technique. It was not particularly rare, but it was difficult to learn, and few Intermediate Mages would waste their time on it.
Giant Shadow Spike · Gemini!
From his hiding place, the Black-robed Cultist's true body appeared. The Dark Element star map on the ground had cleverly merged with the night, while a dark aura mixed with cursed power rose from the earth.
"Fool. Did you really think everyone in the Black Flood Pavilion was useless?" Two shadow spikes flew from the black-robed man's hand.
The Giant Shadow Spikes pierced Mo Fan's and the Ghost Wolf Beast's shadows, instantly freezing both of them in place. Besides restraining the body, Giant Shadow Spikes could also restrain star particles.
The Black-robed Cultist did not seem to want to kill Mo Fan. He sneered. "You got lucky this time. If the Tribunal hadn't been chasing me so closely, I would definitely have refined you into a Black Beast Demon!!"
Mo Fan could not even change his expression now; he could only move his eyes. His gaze remained bright and piercing as he stared at the Black-robed Cultist.
A crimson glow suddenly tore open the bone between his brows, revealing scarlet, sinister light. It was unmistakably a vivid, lifelike ghost eye.
The engagement really was terrible. It was the lowest of all my books—91, not even a hundred.
