The Ghost Eye's demonic light flared brilliantly, and the Giant Shadow Spike imprisoning Mo Fan suddenly released itself. What a joke—if Shadow Kin creatures could be bound by Shadow Magic, then the Shadow Kin King would truly be nothing but a clown king.
Lightning Seal Field
The first thing Mo Fan did after breaking free was recall Old Wolf into his spirit domain. Then he cast a Level 4 Thunder Seal at the ground. Powerful currents spread like a web, lightning serpents surged everywhere, and electric light flashed in all directions.
As the Thunder Seal expanded onto the Black-robed Cultist, it immediately paralyzed his body. In order to capture him alive, Mo Fan had not even used the Red Moon Thunder Source.
"Ghost Shadow, get him!"
As Mo Fan spoke, the shadow beneath his feet instantly rose upright. With a backhanded shoulder throw, it slammed the Black-robed Cultist to the ground.
At the same time, a scarlet ghost eye emerged from Ghost Shadow's palm. Through the back of the Black-robed Cultist's head, it imprinted itself into his Spiritual Universe, suppressing his magical power.
"Got him!" Mo Fan opened his earpiece and said to Ling Ling.
Mo Fan and Xiao Ding escorted the Black-robed Cultist back to Songcheng. The other Judges still had to remain in Qingyang Town and continue searching for traces of the Black Flood Pavilion. With so many forces having infiltrated Qingyang Town, they were certainly connected to the local mage organizations.
After escorting the man in black to Songcheng, Mo Fan and Xiao Ding had more or less completed their mission. Given their abilities, reaching this point was already enough.
Senior Brother Xu Fo still had to remain by Leng Qing's side and protect her. At the very least, they had to drive Salan out of the country first. As for Senior Sister Ning Hongyue and Senior Brother Duan Fei, Leng Qing had not explained where they had gone. He only knew that Ning Hongyue had been one of the main forces in the Qingyang Town battle. As for what mission Duan Fei had gone to carry out, he had no idea.
After staying in Songcheng for another week, Mo Fan and Xiao Ding found that they had nothing left to do. They took little Ling Ling back to Modu and got busy with their own affairs.
Both his Fire Element and Thunder Element had reached the point where he could cast Intermediate Level One magic. His Shadow Element and Summoning Element could also cast Beginner magic, with his Shadow Element cultivation being slightly stronger than his Summoning Element.
He was already close to the peak of Beginner Level One.
As for his summoned beasts, Little Golden Ape had only just entered its Growth Stage, yet it had already crazily grown from palm-sized to over three meters tall. Its sturdy muscles were like coiled dragons lying dormant, while the abilities contained in its bloodline gradually began to manifest.
Because of the Celestial Spirit Codex, Little Golden Ape and Old Wolf had each opened a separate codex page. However, the contents of their pages differed somewhat from Mo Fan's.
On Little Golden Ape's secondary codex page, Little Golden Ape's soul silhouette was the central focus. The regions within the soul silhouette were divided into strength, soul, bone, blood, and spirit.
Mo Fan was already familiar with soul, blood, and bone. Bone Sculpting, blood replacement, and soul strengthening were precisely the three steps a summoned beast underwent when advancing. However, he did not quite understand strength and spirit.
Old Wolf's secondary codex page was much the same, except its soul silhouette was far smaller than Little Golden Ape's. After all, Little Golden Ape's peak was that of a Ruler-level creature, while a Ghost Wolf Beast could at most only be a servant.
Mo Fan still had several General-level Spirit Essences on hand. He decided to strengthen Old Wolf's body first and enhance its abilities.
Every entry on Old Wolf's secondary codex page was a Wolf Clan Demonic Beast. After looking over them again and again, Mo Fan finally chose a giant wolf with snow-white fur.
Ice Island Giant Wolf
A Wolf Clan Demonic Beast that lived on Iceland's snowy plains. Its ancestors had belonged to a powerful race within the Arctic Circle, but as its bloodline degenerated, the Ice Island Giant Wolf had been expelled from the Arctic demonic beast circle.
Even so, the Ice Island Giant Wolf was one of the most terrifying General-level wolf demons in the world. Its powerful body, combined with extreme speed, and its snowy white fur that resembled a layer of false restraint, allowed it to resist most elemental magic.
Of course, there was one even more important reason—it was handsome!!!
The Ice Island Giant Wolf brought the wolf clan's signature aloofness to its fullest. Its blue eyes seemed to contain glaciers, and together with its snowy white fur, it had become the most solitary king atop the snow-capped mountains.
Within the spirit domain, Old Wolf had already sensed that its body was changing. Rows of frost-like fur replaced its original coat. It transformed from a savage beast into a sacred frost spirit!
Its fur was not the only thing that changed. Its body instantly grew from three meters tall to five meters tall. Though its size had increased, its demonic beast level had not changed.
As soon as Old Wolf completed its Bone Sculpting, Mo Fan eagerly went to the open area beside the temporary housing and summoned it.
Old Wolf was also fascinated by its transformation. It chased its own tail in circles, looking utterly foolish.
Mo Fan covered his face. Oh no. I call Old Wolf a dumb dog every day. Don't tell me I really turned it into a dog.
This won't do. Riding a wolf and riding a dog are completely different concepts, okay? Riding a dog would ruin my pants!
And so—
This strike pierced through the Sun, Moon, and Stars—!!!
Mo Fan roared, "Wake up, Old Wolf!!!"
Mo Fan: Slap!
Old Wolf: Ah!
In the end, Old Wolf looked at Mo Fan with aggrieved eyes. That slap had really not been worth it.
Winter passed, and spring arrived. During that time, Mo Fan diligently meditated and cultivated his magic. He did not waste the General Spirit Essences either. He hoped to accumulate a Commander-level Spirit Essence for his Thunder Element.
Compared to his Fire Element and Shadow Element, his Thunder Element was still somewhat lacking. After all, the Red Moon Thunder Demon was merely a General-level elemental demon.
It would be great if he could ignite the Red Moon Thunder Demon's superior—the Demon Moon Thunder Lord!
During this period, Mo Fan did not meet Mu Nujiao or Ai Tutu again. The three of them only exchanged blessings on New Year's Eve and had no further contact afterward.
In the blink of an eye, a year quietly passed.
Mo Fan's strength underwent earth-shaking changes. His Fire Element nebula had cultivated to Level Two, while his Thunder Element nebula remained at Level One, though it was not far from reaching Level Two.
His Shadow Element entered Beginner Level Three, largely thanks to Ghost Shadow's enhancement. Mo Fan had discovered that Ghost Shadow could meditate and cultivate the Shadow Element in his place, which was basically like leaving it on autopilot.
His Summoning Element was rather interesting. Little Golden Ape was still in its Growth Stage, yet among Servant-level creatures, it was already considered outstanding.
Old Wolf entered its Adult Stage. Thanks to the bones of the Ice Island Giant Wolf, it displayed an invincible presence among Servant-level creatures!
The time for university recruitment had arrived. Mo Fan still intended to enroll through the Summoning Element as before, because if he did not enter through the Summoning Element, he feared he might run into his good brother Old Zhao.
His future development plans could not do without Old Zhao's golden thigh.
Then, after both he and Xin Xia enrolled, they could deal with the temporary housing. He had some money on hand now, so he could rent a small apartment for his father first.
At dinner, Mo Fan brought up this idea. As expected, Mo Jiaxing refused.
"Neither you nor Xin Xia will be living at home. What would I do living alone in such a big house? I plan to return to our hometown in Bocheng, then have your Aunt Mo Qing come take care of Xin Xia. So give this money to your aunt instead. I heard living expenses in Songcheng aren't low!"
Mo Jiaxing said as he rubbed his hands together.
"You're going back to our hometown? That works too. Anyway, I'll transfer money to your cards every month for you to spend. Your son is an incredibly powerful mage now—there are plenty of ways for me to make money."
"So don't try to save money for me. Money isn't something you can save up."
Mo Fan readily agreed to Old Mo's return to Bocheng. In his view, Bocheng was far safer than Modu.
