The phone on the bridge suddenly rang. Kalinin frowned, then picked up the phone resting on the empty captain's seat. After hearing the report, he froze for a moment before urgency appeared on his face. He hung up and turned to Xiao Ran.
"There's a problem. Those twin sisters have taken the captain and first officer hostage. They demand that we surface immediately and prepare a helicopter for them."
Xiao Ran's pupils contracted at Kalinin's words. He immediately said to Luo and Luo, who had nothing to do, "Go rescue the captain and first officer."
Luo gritted his teeth. "Should we kill them?"
"Whatever." Xiao Ran spat out the two words coldly. He had never expected the twins to cause trouble at a time like this. He had kept them completely isolated from Kowloon all this time, so there was no way they could have received any orders from him.
Then why had the twins suddenly done this, and where had they gotten orders from Kowloon? Speaking of Kowloon, Xiao Ran had occasionally kept in contact with him during this period to learn about his situation. For the most part, though, he had allowed Kowloon to develop on his own, intending to use the forces Kowloon built up as nourishment for Mithril's reconstruction.
The twins' sudden betrayal meant Kowloon had likely torn up his agreement with Xiao Ran as well. For this to happen at this particular time could only mean that Kowloon had returned to Amalgam—or rather, to Renard's side.
Just as Luo and Luo were preparing to leave, El-Elf stood up and shook his head at Xiao Ran. "Since they're acting so fearlessly on our territory, they may have other preparations. I'll go with them. Ensuring the captain and first officer's safety comes first."
"Mm." Xiao Ran nodded.
