With a towel draped over his shoulder and dressed only in casual clothes, Xiao Ran walked into the study. Cagalli and Mina were seated on the sofa, and upon seeing him enter, both set aside what they were doing and prepared to stand.
Seeing their movement, Xiao Ran lightly pressed his hand down, then sat directly across from them and asked, "How are Cruze and the others doing? When will they arrive?"
Cagalli and Mina had not even risen before Xiao Ran's gesture made them sit back down. Hearing his question, Cagalli answered, "The examination results showed no problems. Judging by the time, they should be arriving about now."
After Cagalli finished, Mina picked up a document from the table and handed it to Xiao Ran. "These are the materials you asked for."
Xiao Ran accepted them, glanced over them, and casually placed them in front of himself. "I'll look at them later. How much does our Intelligence Department know about that region?"
"Very little." Mina had always been in charge of intelligence matters. She shook her head and said, "That region is extremely hostile toward the Outside World and barely has any contact with it. If our geographical locations were not so close, perhaps even we would have no way of knowing its specific circumstances."
"Everyone in that region can use a kind of magical power called Mana. In the eyes of its people, Mana is the foundation of their world, a gift from heaven that proves their superiority. However, as far as we know, there are also people there who cannot use Mana."
"To the people of that region, those unable to use Mana are monsters with violent, antisocial tendencies. They are hated, and publicly, they are said to all be executed.
