In the end, Zenga only interviewed two people he had personally selected. One was Miyoshi Meiya, whom Zenga considered highly gifted in swordsmanship, with excellent aptitude, potential, character, and ability. The second was Aya Hoshimine, who possessed solid personal combat skills, could adapt flexibly to changing situations, remained unaffected by external circumstances, and was better able to make judgments based on facts.
After witnessing Zenga's formidable presence, like that of a war god, the two chose on their own to join the Secret Unit.
The remaining candidates were interviewed by Elsam. Aside from Kagari Takeru, who had deliberately gone easy on them due to his gentle nature, not all those selected by Elsam were ultimately accepted. Including the two chosen by Zenga, only thirteen out of roughly twenty people were selected—and only three of them were men.
For the time being, thirteen people were enough for Zenga and Elsam. They had no plans to seek out more qualified personnel elsewhere. Even if they intended to continue expanding this force under their complete control, they would have to wait until Shirakawa Shuu's plans progressed further, and until these chosen individuals had truly pledged their loyalty and grown stronger.
Miyoshi Meiya, Aya Hoshimine, Kagari Takeru, and the other selected people whose futures remained unknown followed Zenga and Elsam out of the 207 Training Institute. No one knew where they had gone, nor did anyone know their purpose. Everything became a mystery that could not be uncovered in the short term.
From that day onward, a great many important people completely deviated from their original fates. Next, this group would receive comprehensive training from Zenga and Elsam, including mech piloting skill, tactical operations instruction, personal combat, and everything else they had encountered before—or had never encountered at all.
