BETA had attacked this area several times before, but every time, they suffered heavy losses under Char's leadership. The Horns, in particular, as the assault force, had been devastated, getting blasted sky-high by buried mines every time.
BETA's strange changes now were perhaps because they had learned their lesson after suffering too many losses. On the surface, they still looked like they were charging ahead stupidly, but after entering the sea for some distance, they began splitting up. One portion headed toward the defensive line Char's side had set up, while even more spread out to attack areas where no defenses had been deployed.
Once they spread out, the defensive forces would have to disperse as well. Char had already guessed that after spreading out and landing, these BETA would encircle their defensive line. At that point, it would no longer be a confrontation, but an encirclement. BETA would first attack the tank units in the rear, and might even split off part of their forces to launch a direct attack on the frontline support base farther behind.
They had not only positioned their precious Beam Types to guard against Char's warships, but had also moved their vast numbers of Jumper Bugs to the front to temporarily replace the Assault Types. It was obvious that they intended to use these red Jumper Bugs to trigger the mines. Every one of these changes was a response they had learned from their repeated battles with Char, and today, they had displayed them all before him.
Char had to admit that he had underestimated these little monsters. They had actually pulled one over on him right at the final stage of the assault. But that was exactly what made it more interesting. Char did not want to see this world continue stumbling forward
